Workplace theft: casino employees chased the "beautiful" life
Recently, there has been a lot of news on the Web related to the criminal prosecution of former casino employees who stole directly from the workplace. One of the typical examples became recently surfaced circumstances of the accusation of one of the managers of the hotel at the casino in Las Vegas. B.R. Johnson suddenly became rich and started buying quite expensive things that he could not afford before. This immediately attracted the attention of colleagues from the security service of the complex, one of whom began to follow Johnson more closely.
The perpetrator came up with a clever scheme using customers' money. Details are not available at the moment, as the investigation is ongoing. It is only known that somehow the unscrupulous manager managed to issue refunds for services paid for by guests. At the same time, the funds went to Johnson's account, but not to the cards of those who lived in the hotel. As a result, in this way he managed to steal more than 770 thousand dollars. Johnson's illegal enrichment lasted about a year. In total, he made 209 returns for the above amount. He spent the stolen funds in brand stores (Versace, Louis Vuitton, etc.). In addition, the ordinary manager started visiting spas, flying on private jets, visiting expensive restaurants and leading a glamorous lifestyle.
In another state, a Gun Lake casino employee was accused of stealing $85,000. The hall employee, whose duties included repairing slot machines, discreetly embezzled some of the money that was in the machine at the time of troubleshooting. Such embezzlement continued for almost a year and a half. Recently, the criminal was exposed. He now faces up to five years in prison.
Europe is not lagging behind either. Recently in one of the gambling establishments in Bad Homburg (Germany) one of the casino employees was convicted and sentenced to 3 years in prison. He was found guilty of stealing a rather large sum of 1.8 million euros from the casino safe. The sentence was quite mild, because the criminal managed to return some of the funds back into the safe. It turns out that he needed the money to play in another casino. After winning the player returned about 700 thousand euros, which, according to him, he borrowed.
