Sweden launches campaign to combat illegal gambling
As journalists have learned, the Swedish government is making a new attempt to combat illegal gambling. It is about identifying and stopping the activities of illegal casinos and fixed matches, of which there have been many recently. The task has been entrusted to the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, G. Larsson. He and his subordinates will identify and combat the above-mentioned problems. First of all, it is about checking bookmakers, since over the past year they have received many complaints and accusations of fixed matches.
Before taking on his new duties, Larsson will have to thoroughly study the gambling issues, as this was not part of his responsibilities before. He will have to work closely with the SGA (Swedish Gambling Authority). In terms of sports control, he will have to establish a connection between the government, sports and betting organizations. This will help to prevent illegal activities in the betting sector.
G. Larsson and his team intend to comprehensively study the work of not only bookmakers and sports organizations, but also the activities of the SGA Council, since some in the country are sure that government officials are behind the fixed matches, and this already looks like a real scandal in the political life of the country.
After Larsson's appointment, the Minister of Social Affairs stated that officials must be fully accountable to consumers for their vulnerability to fraudulent activities. The government must protect citizens from illegal gambling, as well as unfair competition in gambling. At the same time, serious players in the gambling industry must receive comprehensive protection and support that will protect them from unfair competition.
The minister also promised to step up efforts and control that would completely eliminate the illegal gambling market and fixed matches in Sweden. He also stated that the government should provide gambling citizens of the country with services that would allow them to become more literate in relation to their hobbies. The latest survey showed that only 5% players know how to check whether a casino or bookmaker has a license or not.
