Russia is going to save addicts

The other day it became known that officials from the Ministry of Finance had decided to start providing assistance to Russians suffering from gambling addiction. To begin with, a list-list of ludomaniacs will be created. All those who will be listed in it will not be able to take part in gambling entertainment, as access to them for these citizens will be restricted.

To implement the idea, it will be necessary to pass a bill that will allow imposing self-restrictions on visits to gambling establishments. That is, avid gamblers who are unable to stop in time will be able to prohibit themselves from entering the respective establishments. Among them are casinos and bookmaker's offices. Unfortunately, so far we are talking only about legal sites that are allowed to work in Russia. These are several casinos in special gambling zones and numerous official BCs.

If the draft law being developed is adopted, the lists of gambling addicts will appear in a year's time, in September 2024. This organization has been regulating the activities of bookmakers operating in the Russian Federation for several years. The essence of the new law is that any Russian ludomaniac can write an application requesting to be included in a special list. After that, the citizen will not be able to get the winnings in BC or casino. Even if he manages to somehow get lucky.

It is envisaged that the trustee of the gambler will also have the right to add the gambler's name to the list. All information will be reliably protected, data leaks will be impossible (although this is very doubtful). It will be possible to withdraw (remove) his name from the list not earlier than four months after entering it. And for persons who are incapacitated, such an opportunity will appear only after a year.

Some ludomaniacs doubt that such an initiative is unlikely to save them from financial losses. For example, one of them stated that in the absence of an opportunity to bet on their own, gamblers ask acquaintances or relatives to do so. Almost always they manage to find a way out of the situation that does not allow them to have fun gambling in peace. This is the essence of this disease, with which it is very difficult to fight. Not for nothing psychiatrists compare gambling addiction with alcoholism and drug addiction, from which it is incredibly difficult to get rid of.
