Another tool has been found to combat gambling addiction
Recently, experts conducted a study on the impact of voluntary limits set by gamblers on deposits. As it turned out, such actions reduce the time of participation in gambling entertainment and reduce the amount of loss. The results of the study were published in several journals. Including:
- Behavior;
- Cyberpsychology;
- Social Networking.
Researchers have been exploring the option of cash limit, which can be selected by a visitor to a gambling establishment. The essence of the option is that the player independently sets a limit of funds that he is ready to spend on gambling entertainment per day, week or month.
The total number of respondents was almost 50 thousand people living in seven countries. These gamers were united by the fact that in a certain period of time they made at least one bet using Kindred Group platforms.
At the very beginning of the study, gamers were divided into 10 groups. The number of participants in each of them was approximately the same. The very first group included the least active gamblers, the second and subsequent groups – more active (in ascending order). It was previously determined how much was spent on gambling in a particular group without established limits. In the first, least active group, the spending was insignificant. Apparently, these respondents had their own internal limits.
In the other groups, the situation was completely different. The costs of the game were very significant, but after the monetary limits were set, they became an order of magnitude lower. Using the example of monetary amounts, it was found that on average, active players spent about 400 euros per month with the established limits. Before that, they spent almost three times more on the game, about 1,100 euros.
The results of this important study have proven that deposit limits can be an effective tool to successfully combat gambling addiction.
In addition to the study described above, another one was conducted, in which 175 thousand players took part. Its results showed that when using money limits, users become more loyal to the chosen casino, i.e. they play in it constantly.
