Rules for organizing gambling in the Russian Federation: are changes expected in the near future?
In just a few months (by 2021), the rules for organizing and operating the Russian gambling market may be changed. This statement was made by lawyer M. Lepshchikova. At the same time, she does not rule out that the new provisions will repeat the existing ones. There is currently no complete clarity about the new requirements that will be imposed on the Russian gambling market.
On March 19 of this year, a decree of the Russian Government was published, from which it follows that some rules, regulations and acts will lose their force. For example, from January 1 of next year, legal acts regulating the activities of bookmakers and some other gambling organizers will be cancelled. At the same time, the Russian Government intends to adopt new rules for the work of bookmakers through new acts and decrees.
According to the lawyer, one should not expect any radical changes. At least in the field of online gambling related to virtual casinos. No changes are expected in this area. The main changes will affect bookmakers. At the same time, ordinary users and clients of bookmakers will not even notice this. Of course, there will be changes in the legal regulation, but it is not yet clear what this will look like.
On the other hand, the Russian budget has suffered greatly due to the collapse of oil and gas prices, as well as restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the legalization of online casinos allows for good income in the form of tax deductions, it is very possible that the issue of licensing virtual clubs in Russia is already being raised behind the scenes. Of course, gamers should not expect any radical changes yet, but, as they say, “you can expect anything in this life.”
