Negative consequences of closing a profitable gambling zone
The chief engineer of the closed casino "Shambala", which was located in the gambling zone "Azov-City", shared information with journalists about the state of affairs of the former successful project. Today, he and some other employees of the IKRZ are dismantling equipment that has not yet paid for itself in five years of work. According to calculations made before the zone was opened, it would take 15 years to recoup the funds invested in "Azov-City".
The casino equipment is being sent to Primorsky Krai. Naturally, its cost is now several times lower than what was spent on its purchase. However, according to the former chief engineer of Shambhala, there is no choice. It will no longer be needed here.
The gambling zone brought significant profits to the budget of the Krasnodar region. In the last year of its existence alone, more than one billion rubles were received. The opening of Azov-City brought undoubted benefits to the region, although there were initially concerns that easy access to gambling for the local population would cause serious problems. In fact, the crumbling infrastructure was improved, many new jobs appeared, and the influx of investment into the region increased significantly.
The closure of the IKRZ has led to a serious outflow of part of the population from the region. Whole families are leaving, as many citizens have lost their jobs, and there are no new ones in the Krasnodar Region. Some people went to the Kaliningrad Region to get jobs in local gambling establishments. In fact, such frequent relocations of families with children negatively affect the development of the younger generation. However, the government did not think about this when it made the decision to close the most profitable gambling zone of the Russian Federation.
It remains to be hoped that the negative consequences of such decisions will be studied and will not be made in the future.
