Gambling establishment employees are losing their jobs en masse
Unprecedented layoffs of employees of various companies and organizations are taking place all over the world. According to analysts' forecasts, more than 30 million people may be left without work in the near future in the United States alone! Unfortunately, the situation in the gambling industry is also far from ideal. While online operators of virtual establishments are seeing a significant increase in income, the situation of employees in land-based casinos, which have been closed for several weeks in many countries, is worse than ever.
For example, today it became known that one of the largest operators in Great Britain, which manages a casino and gaming hall Bingo Rank Group Plc., fired more than 90% of its employees. Incidentally, this is about 7,000 people who were effectively left without a livelihood. The remaining workers had their wages cut by 20%.
The operator's revenue has fallen by 4% in the first three months of this year, but such a slight decline was only possible because the online service offering for regular customers was significantly increased while all land-based establishments were temporarily closed. Despite the slight optimism of these data, analysts predict that Rank Group's annual revenue could fall by almost 60 million dollars.
According to the company's executive director, business owners are making every effort to retain their customer base. This is facilitated by an increase in online offers. The company plans to open safe offline facilities, but in what form this will be presented, a representative of the operator John O'Reilly did not specify. In addition, he said that all obligations to consumers of the operator's services will be maintained, and the management hopes for a speedy resolution of the crisis associated with the restrictive measures introduced as a result of the quarantine.
