Belarus leaves Russia behind in the online gambling sphere

Gambling residents of Belarus celebrate victory! Since April 1, 2019, online gambling has been allowed. The corresponding decree was signed by the head of state A. Lukashenko. The purpose of the decree was to establish strict control over the online gambling industry. Knowing the cool temper of the president and the peculiarities of the policy pursued in this country, it is not surprising. On the contrary, it is strange that such a thing was not done much earlier.
Now online casinos will be able to operate in the country solely on the basis of a license. Each casino is obliged to have a closed deposit, the amount of which must be at least one million dollars. This is done to protect players from non-payment of winnings. In addition, to prevent the outflow of funds to illegal establishments, a reduction in taxes is provided.
For gamblers, rules have come into force that many may not like. For example, the age at which allowed to play at online casinos (from age 18 to 21). The introduction of this rule implies that all gambling players will be required to undergo mandatory verification.
Land-based clubs will now have mandatory video surveillance. This is done to prevent crime, as well as to eliminate the practice of playing in debt for regular casino visitors.
Tax authorities now have additional opportunities and tools to track cash flows related to gambling. This implies a significant increase in revenues to the treasury received from this sphere of activity. In general, the legalization of online gambling can be regarded as a positive moment. Of course, if everything will be done according to the law and without violations.
