More women and men under 50 in legal casinos in Russia
AIRIS (Association of Gambling Industry Operators) specialists conducted a study that shared interesting data concerning visitors to gambling establishments (legal). All four gambling zones of the Russian Federation, located in Sochi, Kaliningrad, Altai and the Far East, took part in the study. The main goal was to identify the number of female and male players. In addition, the researchers were faced with the task of understanding the dynamics of changes in the average age of male visitors.
The data obtained turned out to be very interesting. For example, the most visited gambling zone today, Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi), was opened in 2017. Since then, the female audience of visitors has grown by 56%. As a result, today the ratio of men and women is as follows: 55% and 45%, respectively. In other gambling zones, there has also been an increase in the number of women visiting casinos. Of the total number of players, the female audience is:
- "Siberian coin" (Altai) - 30%;
- "Primorye" (Vladivostok) - 25%;
- "Yantarnaya" (Kaliningrad region) – 40%.
On average, across these three gambling zones, the annual increase in the number of women playing in casinos is approximately 3%.
After presenting these figures, AIRIS Director D. Afinogenov stated that the increase in the number of visitors to gambling zones is due to the updated concept of their development and popularization. Today, in addition to traditional gambling, they offer interesting events for a wide audience. These are gastronomic dinners, celebrity concerts, exhibitions, various sports competitions, etc. Thus, the gambling zone located in Sochi is a leader in the direction of tourism development in the region due to the wide variety of events not related to gambling. This allows increasing the influx of tourists, including to casinos.
The study also showed that, compared to previous years, the average age of male visitors has become younger. Guests aged 18 to 25 make up about 10% of all visitors, aged 26 to 35 – almost 40%, aged 35 to 50 – 30%. The older generation has become less likely to visit casinos. This is especially noticeable among the 60+ age category. The same trends can be seen in other gambling zones.
