Kazakhstan fights illegal gambling in social networks

The country's financial monitoring agency has warned that any gambling offered on social media is illegal. We are talking about online roulette, card games, dice, etc., which have recently become very popular on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and others. The agency recalled that several organizers of similar entertainment in Kazakhstan have already been convicted.

The agency representative reported that the principle of involvement of network participants is always approximately the same. A group of registered visitors is offered to bet money on one of the games. A quarter of the money is taken by the organizer and the rest goes to one or more winners, depending on the rules. Payouts, like bets, are made through online transfers. In this regard, the country's government plans to restrict the registration of minors in social networks and messengers WhatsApp, Facebook, VKontakte, etc. by 2025. Teenagers will be able to become registered users only with the knowledge and permission of their parents or guardians.

Today, more than a hundred accounts have been identified, from which illegal gambling is distributed (broadcast). The representatives of the AFM reminded that the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan has a corresponding article (307 of the Criminal Code of the RK) on the illegality of such activities. All those who distribute illegal content should think twice, as recently several people have been detained and brought to criminal responsibility for illegal actions in the gambling industry. In particular, two organizers of illegal games in TikTok from Almaty have already been sentenced to one and a half years in prison. In just four months, they managed to make an illegal profit of 13 million tenge (almost 2.5 million rubles). In the coming days, another group of four people who organized illegal gambling in TikTok will be sentenced.
