Network of underground casinos closed in Buryatia
As is known, underground gambling establishments are the scourge not only of many European countries, where gambling is restricted by law, but also of Russia and other CIS countries. Recently, another illegal establishment was liquidated in Buryatia. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, more than 20 underground casinos have already been closed in the republic, and the total amount of gaming equipment that was confiscated by law enforcement agencies amounted to about 600 units.
Today, 12 criminal cases have already been opened in the region on the fact of illegal organization of gambling business. At the same time, 10 have already reached the court. The most interesting thing is that the summer period has become the most fruitful for transferring such cases to the court. In August alone, there were eight of them. All these criminal cases are combined into a single proceeding, as they were opened against a group of people in collusion. Several people opened a whole network of underground online casinos in Ulan-Ude. The total number of such clubs was seven pieces. The game was conducted directly on the territory of illegal casinos and via the Internet.
Currently, the relevant authorities are going to destroy all the seized equipment. For this purpose, special acts are drawn up and the relevant permits are obtained from higher authorities. In fact, the fight against underground casinos is like a battle with windmills. In place of one closed club, five new ones appear. This is especially true for casinos operating on the Internet. Perhaps the Russian government should adopt the experience of Belarus and legalize online gambling again. Naturally, there should not be such a “wild” revelry as in the early 2000s. However, if you look at the huge number of illegal virtual establishments that are operating now, it becomes absolutely clear that only legalization of the gambling industry will help deal with fraudsters.
