Illegal online casinos brought criminals more than 63 billion rubles
Recently, more than 63 billion rubles were illegally withdrawn from the territory of Russia, obtained as a result of illegal gambling activities. A resident of Bryansk participated in this grand event, who contributed to the implementation of fraudulent schemes. The public was informed about this by representatives of the Investigative Committee for this region. Law enforcement agencies were able to stop the illegal activity.
A resident of Bryansk, together with two accomplices, organized an underground casino. It operated for about 5 years. From October 2014 to October 2019. Naturally, the criminal group did not have a license to provide gambling services. The illegal casino used uncertified equipment (scripts for well-known slots) and provided technical support for users on its own. In particular, the accused resident of Bryansk accepted cash payments from players with subsequent transfer of money to the gaming account of the gambling platform. This contributed to the fact that the victims of the fraud participated in gambling and lost. There was no chance of winning.
After the investigation, it was established that the group that organized the illegal casino was able to obtain 63 billion rubles. The funds were withdrawn from the Russian Federation. The Federal Tax Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Security Service of Russia took part in the operation to suppress illegal gambling activities. The court considered the case of illegal organization of gambling and took into account the scale of the crime. As a result of the hearing, the accused received three years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. She is also obliged to pay a fine of 800,000 rubles. At the moment, the sentence has not entered into force, since due to the presence of a 14-year-old child, the execution of the sentence was granted a deferment. Other members of the group were convicted in absentia, since they are on the international wanted list. Their property in Russia has been seized. It is valued at 1.5 billion rubles.
