Today, illegal gambling business is widespread throughout Russia. Illegal casinos are opening in the most unexpected places. Law enforcement agencies in the Murmansk region recently presented surprising information about a group of people who organized gambling in a closed military district. After the investigative measures were carried out, all the necessary information has already been sent to the court.
The investigation, due to the case being closed due to the high level of secrecy associated with the location of the illegal business, lasted for quite a long time. During the investigation, it was established that in 2022, between May and June, in the settlements of Polyarny and Gadzhiyevo (Murmansk Region), a group of defendants organized and conducted illegal gambling. The establishments were disguised as Internet cafes.
For about two months, the defendants provided online gambling services using the appropriate equipment and the Internet. The investigation recalled that the Murmansk Region is not a region where gambling is permitted (such zones are located in other regions of the country). Investigators questioned more than 30 witnesses, which allowed them to collect evidence. In addition to the confiscated gambling equipment, cash and other material evidence were found during the search.

Illegal gambling activity was stopped by employees of a penal colony located in the Voronezh region. Here, one of the convicts was able to set up a real casino with card games. As it was later found out, he made decks of cards and a special table for the game himself. At the same time, the accused became the organizer of card games for money, receiving a corresponding percentage.
The underground katran operated for more than a year, from March 2022 to April 2023. By the time the investigation was completed, the organizer of the illegal club had already been released, but this did not prevent the Investigative Committee from initiating a new criminal case and sending the materials to court. As a result, the former convict was sentenced to a new term of one year, albeit suspended.
