Gaming addiction in Russia: is an epidemic starting?
According to the latest statistics, Russian gamers are becoming more and more addicted to easy winnings in casinos. Today, there are millions of fans of such entertainment all over the world who cannot imagine their lives without excitement. Statistics obtained as a result of several studies and surveys have shown that today we can talk about an epidemic of ludomania, which is starting in Russia.
According to entrepreneur Dmitry Davydov, who conducted the relevant research for one of his projects, there are at least 350 million gamblers addicted to gambling in the world. In particular, in the Russian Federation there is a serious trend of growth of gambling addiction among the working population. The rapid development of the Internet and the emergence of many virtual casinos played a significant role in this. Today, online platforms with gambling entertainment are a mass, large-scale phenomenon. Accordingly, the number of gambling addicts is growing.
One of the measures that will reduce gambling addiction may be the introduction of the practice of targeted contributions from gambling resources that will go towards the prevention and treatment of ludomania. The principle is approximately the same as with deductions for sports made by bookmakers. Naturally, this is currently only possible for land-based Russian casinos located in special zones. Unfortunately, online gambling is not practiced in our country. Legalization of online casinos would allow not only to take control of this sphere, but also to receive serious income from it in the form of tax deductions, as well as funds to combat gambling addiction in Russians.
