Roskomnadzor's latest report: blocking has become more frequent
Roskomnadzor – an organization that can be safely considered a “gamer’s worst nightmare.” And this is not surprising, since at the instigation of its employees, a large number of resources in RuNet are blocked every day. First of all, this concerns portals related to online gambling. The other day, a fresh report was published on the Roskomnadzor website, reflecting the state of affairs with the blocking of undesirable resources. Naturally, we are talking about sites that Russians should not see and visit, according to this organization. The report reflected statistics for the third quarter of 2019.
As it became known, ordinary RuNet users began to send more complaints to Roskomnadzor related to gambling, or rather, to the violation of the rules and laws adopted in the Russian Federation on this matter. It is very easy to leave a complaint about a particular resource: just fill out a special form on the organization's website. The employees will review the request and decide whether to block the site or not.
The total number of requests received by Roskomnadzor in the first nine months of last year is almost 65 thousand, which is three percent more than in the same period of 2018. The increase in the number of requests was especially noticeable in the third quarter, as in the first half of 2019 there were even fewer requests than in the six months of 2018.
Incidentally, the requests related to complaints about the illegal organization of online gambling are leading among other requests. Complaints about activities related to drug trafficking, the development of pornographic sites (mainly involving minors), resources promoting calls for suicide, and portals where counterfeit alcohol is illegally sold are located nearby.
Returning to online gambling, it should be recalled that Roskomnadzor specialists propose significantly increasing fines for illegal opening of resources with gaming content. In principle, this is the right decision. The only disappointing thing is that legal online casinos are also being blocked.
