Fight against online casinos and illegal bookmakers: will artificial intelligence help?

A meeting of representatives of the gambling industry was held recently. The main topic was the increased influence of illegal (fake) and foreign licensed online casinos on gambling users living in Russia. Transfers in favor of gambling sites have grown significantly over the past year. This is noted by all organizations associated with gambling. As a result, official gambling establishments do not receive profits, which go "left."

The meeting was attended not only by representatives of the gambling industry, but also by employees of the Association of Russian Banks, who confirmed this data. It is no secret that this happens due to imperfect legislation, as well as the availability of more comfortable conditions offered by online casinos to Russians. First of all, no one requires them to pay taxes on the winnings received, and in some cases, verification is not even required.

During the meeting, measures were discussed that could prevent players from visiting illegal virtual casinos (regardless of whether they have a license or not). There was no talk yet about legalizing online gambling. Apparently, the time for this has not yet come. However, there were proposals to involve artificial intelligence in the fight against illegal bookmakers and online casinos, which would monitor all payments made and identify transactions directed in favor of online gambling representatives operating outside the legislative framework of the Russian Federation.

Perhaps the idea of involving AI in solving problems with illegal gambling on the Internet is not bad, but it is unlikely to be implemented quickly. This was noted by the participants of the meeting themselves. Of course, it would be wiser to bring online casinos out of the underground by adopting relevant laws. Moreover, several years ago there were no such restrictions. Today, it would be possible to improve the legislation concerning gambling. Everyone would benefit from this: both players, who would be protected from fraudsters, and the state, receiving additional income to the budget in the form of taxes from virtual gambling operators.

  1. I believe it is vital to prioritize consumer education so that players can make informed decisions about online gambling and recognize the dangers of illegal sites. Additionally, working with technical experts can lead to new ideas for better regulation and the promotion of responsible gambling. This really seems like a step in the right direction!
