Belarus: gambling industry in a conservative country
It is no secret that this country is much closer to "traditional Soviet" values than other former Soviet republics. Nevertheless, this does not prevent the development of the gambling industry, which brings substantial revenue to the state budget. Naturally, over the years, the gambling market has undergone changes. At the same time, they were not only positive, but also negative.
The other day representatives of the gambling business discussed the current situation and potential problems that the industry may face in the near future. It should be reminded that Belarus, as well as Russia, is currently under sanctions, though not so many yet. This may have a negative impact on the supply of gaming equipment. On 90% it is produced in countries that are now called "unfriendly". Basically, we are talking about land-based gambling establishments.
Things are much better for online casinos, which have been legalized in the country since 2018. They continue to operate in the Republic of Belarus and are not going to curtail their activities for the time being. Apparently, online gambling operators do not want to lose their huge profits. By the way, today their activities are strictly controlled (of course, we are talking about official, not underground clubs). Online casinos in Belarus must have a state license that allows them to provide relevant services. The most famous institution in the country, which has a land-based and virtual club is Shangri La Casino (Minsk). Among other popular gaming venues, players highlight:
- Betera and PariMatch;
- Verde and Vesper;
- 1xBet Casino, etc.
Recall: players who have reached the age of 21 are allowed to register and spend time at online casinos in Belarus.
While discussing the prospects of online gambling, all participants of the recent discussion came to certain conclusions. Despite the negative attitude on the part of Western partners, which was formed due to the policy of the government, which maintains friendly relations with the Russian Federation (at least, it looks that way outwardly), cooperation will not be interrupted, as it brings both sides huge profits.
