Apple imposes restrictions on the promotion of gambling apps
Recently, Apple representatives announced that all applications that allow you to visit social casinos and play in them will have strict age restrictions. From now on, only people who are 17 years old or older will be able to download such software from the App Store. It is unclear why this particular age was chosen. After all, adulthood occurs after 18. However, this remains on the company's conscience.
The new rules came into force on August 20. They apply to all countries of the world. To make it clear what we are talking about, it is worth recalling that social casinos are sites where the game is played not for real money, but for "wrappers". Basically, these are traditional slot machines with reels and poker.
In connection with the adopted rules, now all applications that are posted for download will undergo preliminary study and testing for compliance with age restrictions.
The exception to the rule was games for residents of South Korea. They will be able to download gambling applications only after reaching the age of 19. This strange decision was made by the company's management together with the government of the country.
By the way, in 2018, Apple removed more than 4,000 programs that were previously available to Chinese users. It was decided that these applications were related to online gambling, which is prohibited in China.
In June of this year, it was announced that gambling applications designed exclusively for the iOS operating system would be allowed in the App Store, so all operators should bring their existing software into compliance with the new rules. This must be done before September 3. Previously, many developers accused the company of removing their applications illegally. Now this will happen according to the brand's rules.
In fact, it would be better to ban gambling content from the App Store altogether, since dependence on such games is growing exponentially. However, for now they are profitable for many participants, so there is no hope for this.
